I`m sure that I do not have to emphasize just how fast those dragsters are running and how terrifying can be if something goes wrong. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened to Larry Dixon, the triple world Top Fuel champion, during his first race on Australian soil, at an exhibition in Queensland. Luckily, he managed to escape injured.
The incident happened at the very beginning of the race, as he launched the car for an expected and astonishing 300 mph! And the reason for this ordeal was that his racer broke an axle, shed a rear tire, which send the dragster into a 360 degree spin. However, thanks to his great driving skills and the huge experience, Larry somehow managed to steer the car straight, rolling only on three wheels.
The whole thing was very scary and it was described as one of the most incredible incidents that has ever happened at the Top Fuel championship. Later on, Larry`s crew managed to repair the car, and he even made a few high-speed test runs.
The video below will show you just how serious this incident was, so check it out and see the whole thing with your own eyes. And if you want to see another crash that happened to Larry earlier this year, go to this link.
