108 Years Old Kerosene Engine Start Up & Incredible Sound!

Whenever a brand new video comes out and it is somehow connected to powerful cars, engines or bikes, we all love to spend our time going through the whole video to see some piece of rarity, or something that we have not seen so far. Hereby, in this video we take a look at what might be the oldest kerosene engine that we have ever come across. This Blackstone oil engine was made back in 1909, which is whooping 108 years old. The story behind it is what makes it so special.

Namely, this kerosene engine was used back in the days for pumping water from a river, or a water source to a market garden. It did a great job until it was sabotaged sometime in the 1920s and the cylinder was blown up with dynamites. Soon after it was repaired, but eventually after years and years of service, the kerosene engine fell into disuse.



Many floods submerged the engine in water which caused it to rust. It was salvaged in the 1990s and it was started up yet again after so many years. Hereby, we are lucky enough to take a look at this video in which we see what it takes to start this 10 HP engine up, and once it is up and going, it creates the most satisfying sound that you can hear from such old engine.

The hot bulb has to be preheated to help the kerosene vaporize, thus forming internal combustion. What do you think about it?
