Ever since the Second World War, polyurethane tires have been becoming a bigger piece of the tire industry every year.
However, since the materials used in creating them are so different than the ones used to make rubber tires, not to mention how much more expensive they are, the production process of these tires is different as well. Basically, what the people in this factory do is, they take a template, stick it in two molds, wait for the molds to dry and then cut the rim holes in the center, creating a way to pour some polyurethane into the mold. After the mold is dried off, little bits and pieces are cut off until the necessary level of finesse is reached and they are ready to create some tires.
When the polyurethane tires come out, you want them to be perfect, right? Well, in order for that to happen you have to have the perfect molds. So, much more time is spent on the molds than the actual tire, which is created through pouring polyurethane into the molds and letting it dry, which it does pretty quickly. When the tire is completely dry, these guys pull off the molds, take out the tire and create a nice smooth rim hole right in the center and presto – they`re done.
I`m actually surprised, I thought the process was going to be much longer and more painstaking, but it`s as simple as that.
