WORLD’S FASTEST TRUCK! Volvo’s 2,400HP ‘Iron Knight’ Breaks World Record With 171MPH!

Volvo Trucks is known for doing innovative, cool things with its big rigs. The Swedish manufacturer has performed some very insane stunts to showcase its amazing technology. Like racing a Koenigsegg on a race track, placing a four-year old in control of a dump truck and Van Damme`s “Epic Split.” Earlier this month, Volvo has teased the feat to shatter its previous speed records. Now, it has officially achieved the feat with its monstrous truck called the Iron Knight. For this staggering endeavor the world`s fastest lorry was driven by the Swedish truck racing driver Boije Ovebrink.

The Iron Knight is fitted with a 13L mid-mounted D13 engine that delivers 2,400HP and 4,425 lb-ft of torque power! So, no wonder it managed to break the speeding world record at both 500 and 1000-meter runs. The beasty custom-built semi-truck achieved 13.710 seconds on the 500-meter run at average speed of 81.58mph. Afterwards, it completed the 1000-meter run with a time of 21.290 seconds at an average speed of 105mph. The immense semi managed to accomplish a 171mph top speed as well. Clearly the guys at Volvo Trucks have a very fun side which we wish it never subsides. Take a look at the world`s fastest lorry in the footage below.
