Airbus A380-800 Brake Test ends up in FLAMES!

In order to check out their quality, engineers do regular tests on airplanes. However, this Airbus A380-800 ends up in flames…

Airbus A380-800 Brake Test Flames Explosion 4

When talking about test by car, plane or train manufacturers, we can see just everything. The tests seem to have no end and even when the tiniest piece of technology has been modified or changed, the machine undergoes a sort of test. They can be brake tests, crash tests and much more. What you are about to see in the following video is exactly that i.e. a brake test done on the wheels used for the Airbus A380-800.

This is one of the biggest passenger planes in the world and millions of them are being transported by it each year. That is why each piece and screw has to be just perfect hence there is no space and time for errors. This test is done at the Honeywell-Dunlop Alliance.

The test is supposed to replicate an overweight landing. It was done on 20th October 2004. The summary of the test is given in the video with all its parameters such as the dynamometer energy, brake application speed, stop distance, mean deceleration as well as the energy absorption rate.

As it can be seen from the video, the massive wheel is slowly, inch by inch, placed onto the rotating base. Because of the huge pressure the brakes are undertaking, they start smoking almost instantly.

Just seconds after the whole brake system burst in fire. This is probably not what the guys from Airbus were hoping to see. Still, the Airbus A380-800 is one of the safest and most advanced passenger planes in the world!

At last, here is the list of the best airbus aircraft.
