Should You Skip Gears In Manual Transmission?!

We have seen many video explaining how should or should not, what to do and what not to do on our cars and in the following video we take a look at a detailed explanation of should you skip gears in a manual transmission.

Skip Gears In Manual Transmission 2

The YouTube channel Engineering Explained gave us all the necessary information and everything you need to know about it. So the manual transmission enables you to shift to whatever gear you like unlike the automatic transmission where you are forced to go gear after gear. There are two types of shifting, downshifting and upshifting. Some car manufacturers actually make their cars to perform upshifts due to fuel economy. Such is the example with the Chevy Camaro SS where if you are in 1st gear and low throttle, the car then forces you to shift to 4th gear skipping 2nd and 3rd.

Despite having a lurge and minor clutch damage, performing upshifts should not cause any problems whatsoever to your car. When it comes to downshifting we have the same situation. It will not cause any damage to your car though you need to balance and match the RPMs. For example, if you are driving on a highway at 6th gear and you want to pass the car in front of you so you want to drop the gears down to 3rd, it is totally fine to do. All you have to do is to wait couple of seconds until the RPMs and the revs match. Check the video for more information on the skip gears story!
