Classic Chevy Chevelle Fast facts 2

Chevrolet classified the Chevelle as a mid-sized car, as opposed to Ford`s Mustang. Instead, they chose to go against the Ford Fairlane and popular car models of the 1950`s. When it first came out, the 1965 Z16 Chevelle had a price of only $1501, which is incredibly low for a car now, but it wasn`t really that low back in the 60`s. Chevelles are a favorite of a lot of people because they give the body for a lot of different types and makes, which makes them pretty sought after. The Chevelle frame is used even for makes such as the Chevy Malibu and the El Camino!

This classic Chevy Chevelle had engine options far below today`s capabilities, but still impressive – they could choose anywhere between 155 horsepower in a six cylinder engine and a 454 LS6 version with an astounding 450 horsepower! In 1969, the classic Chevy Chevelle was the most popular and the best selling mid-size car. The most expensive one ever sold was a 1970 Chevelle SS which sold for $1.15 million dollars. You might recognize the Chevelle from movies and TV shows such as Fast and the Furious, Jack Reacher and the likes, or you might recognize the Chevelle body form in 1973-1977 NASCAR, which used 3rd generation Chevelle bodies almost exclusively! Don`t get your hopes up though – even though it was one of the most popular cars of all time, Chevrolet has no plans to make more Chevelles.
