For many people history is boring at school. Lots of facts, lots of years, lots of people to be remembered. However, as time goes by, we understand how important it actually is. Especially when we see a well presented documentary on TV or on the Internet. Today we are presenting you a short documentary about a huge engineering marvel that was kept as a TOP SECRET until few years ago. It is a word of a gigantic prototype machine, a cold war plane, named KM EKRANOPLAN! It was invented during the time of the Cold War by Rostislav Evgenievich Alekseev. He had an idea of boats that are able to fly and he went to seek for permission to build the Ekranoplan. Permission was granted and after 6 years of engineering and construction, the biggest machine ever was created.

It was first tested in the Caspian Sea on 11 October 1966. Moreover, it had weight of 540 tons, which is 150 tons heavier than a Boeing 747. The tail was set on a height that equals 5 stories or almost 60 ft. With such dimensions this enormous machine was able to fly with a speed of 400+ mph!!! So imagine the force of those 8 front engines! See it for yourself! We couldn`t believe our own eyes after seeing this cold war plane! A 540 ton behemoth flying is something you don`t see every day!
