As you all already know, this was the third installment in the franchise. This was the make or break moment. This is actually when the producers really started making some extra cash and consequently, they were able to spend a lot more money on making the next movie! As above mentioned, the first couple of movies were done on a budget and not much can be said about the cars. However, Tokyo Drift really started making the difference and even though it did not have as big success as some of the later movies, some awesome cars featured there!

Every Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift car is a story for itself. The producers invested a lot of money when upgrading the cars and this was not the only thing. Namely, you cannot make a movie with just one car, so, they had to buy as many as 9 identical cars for every single scene. The first Tokyo Drift car we are going to take a look at is a true American icon, the 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback! Everyone knows what this car is capable of but the producers needed something more!

So, instead of having the stock engine, they decided to take a step forward and equip the car with e 2.6L twin turbo Nissan engine. Of course, this all does not sound too expensive. I mean, all you need is a paintjob, some engine replacement and you are good to go. Well, things were not that easy. Take in consideration that six such cars were purchased during the filming! Add all this together and you are very close at seeing the price go as much as quarter of a million dollars! $250,000 just for one car? Well, this is what made Fast and Furious so special!

Another American icon that featured in the movie was the 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. This is the car that was used for the race where they had to take down a whole house. The car took quite the amount of beating and because of this, 9 such stunt cars had to be used for filming! As with the Mustang, the Monte Carlo also needed some customization. Eventually, once you add the cost of every 9 stunt cars, the price easily reached over $150,000! In the video below take a look at every other Tokyo Drift car and its price!
