Hyundai ix35 FCEV Arives as the World’s First Full Production Fuel Cell Car in UK!

Hyundai ix35 FCEV in London

Five Hyundai ix35 hydrogen powered vehicles will arrive in London very soon as the first production fuel cell cars in the world. Those eco-friendly vehicles will be a part of the London Hydrogen Network Expansion project.

Hyundai Motor will join the existing consortium as a supplier of LHNE with a special expertise in hydrogen transport operation and infrastructure that will cover London and the south east of England. As the government and Technology Strategy Board initiative, the LHNE project, should put the hydrogen vehicles into daily use and deliver the infrastructure for refueling in order to support their operation.

These Hyundai ix35 fuel cell vehicles will be leased to private fleet users and key public in London. Those Eco cars will be built on the same production line, in Ulsan, Korea as the first of 1,000 examples that should be produced by 2015.

The most of those 1,000 vehicles will be available in EU where the European Commission has established a infrastructure scheme, such as the Hydrogen Joint Undertaking and Fuel Cells in order to promote the use of hydrogen as the zero carbon fuel.
