VOLVO Presents The REVOLUTIONARY Emergency Truck Braking System! It Will Definitely Save Lives!

Being a truck driver is not an easy task as it might look like. It requires a lot of concentration, and a great deal of driving skills too. In addition, this is also a job that can tire out the driver due to various factors and we all know what can happen with tired truck driver. In order to prevent that, Volvo Trucks` came out with an ingenious idea of a braking system that can avoid or at least to soothe a car crash. It is a word of the new CW-EB (Collision Warning with Emergency Brake) system, implemented for the first time in the Volvo FH trucks.

The truck driver`s worst nightmare is the jackknife. Volvo`s solution to the jackknife is the stretch brake. It works with pulse braking. It pulse brake the trailer and by this stretching out the vehicle combination thus reducing the danger.

Other great safety feature this braking system has is the lane keeping support. It is known that drifting out of lane can cause a serious catastrophic accident. The lane keeping support is able to track the markings on the road with a camera. This makes the system able to alert the driver if he unintentionally crosses them.

This system is based on two sensors – a camera and a radar. The radar determines the distance and speed of vehicles in front of the truck whereas the camera gives information about the vehicle type. Primarily, the CW-EB system is supposed to notify the driver if it recognize that a collision is forthcoming. But if the driver does not react, the system gently brakes. If still there is no reaction, the system brakes harder, bringing the truck to a stopping point and thus avoids collision or at least make it mitigated.
