You should never underestimate how dangerous it is when tires attack. If you had a flat tire, and think your day is a nightmare because of that, think again.

The video also goes into statistics and tells us that annually there are 78,000 accidents and 500 deaths because of tire accidents. Most often these devastating tire accidents happen because of improper maintenance or installation errors. Having said that, if your tires are old, worn or maintained, you need to quickly resolve that because the consequences can be extremely devastating for both your life and other people`s lives. Many solutions to prevent tires from flying comes from auto racing.
Many tire blowouts in NASCAR meant that something had to be changed regarding safety in that motorsport league. This is when NASCAR introduced the tire safety liner. If a tire blows, the safety liner remains inflated and prevents the tire from flying off. NASCAR also has multi-zone tread for grip and endurance. However, NASCAR is the only auto racing league which had a tire flying problem. Formula 1 is another league where tires flying off was a huge problem. In Formula 1 it`s even more dangerous when tires fly off because the drivers are exposed in open cockpits. Because of this, Formula 1 implemented wheel tethers.
