Meet Cesium – The Most ACTIVE Metal On The Planet! Fantastic Chemical Experiments!

In this one, we check out the most active metal on earth called Cesium. The only metal which can be more active than Cesium is Francium. However, Francium is radioactive and extremely rare to conduct any experiments with it. Due to its high activity, Cesium is stored in special ampoules and under inert atmosphere. Appearance wise, this metal has a yellow tint similar to gold. However, the price for metallic Cesium is higher than gold. Because of its highest activity and small sales market, the price of Cesium is around $100 per gram. The chemist in the video is playing with 50 grams of Cesium!

As we said, Cesium is very unusual and it has a very low melting point at only 84.2 Fahrenheit. The most interesting part of this video, however, is the experiments. The chemist decides to pour the liquid Cesium in Kerosene. However, something went wrong during that part. The liquid cesium instantly ignited in air, burning everything around it. Now, the chemist needs to buy another vile of Cesium! He attempts the same experiment again but with a different approach. This chemist does a lot of other experiments with this wonderful and most active metal on earth in this video. To watch them all, click on the video below and enjoy!
