The Illinois Central College located in Peoria has a rare opportunity to possess a vehicle for training. Such situation, a school to gain a vehicle for training purposes, is really rare. There are certain standards and criteria that have to be met in order to qualify to receive the vehicle. This is a story of a restored 1970 DODGE SUPER BEE!

 

Plus, strict regulations must be followed by the educational facility which state that the automobile is not allowed to be driven on the streets. Apparently, these rules and regulations were obeyed by the Illinois Central College and this institution got a brand new 1970 Dodge Super Bee, right after its production in the St. Louis Plant.

This 1970 Dodge Super Bee is equipped with the splendid B5 blue paint, black vinyl top, stock steel wheels wrapped in Goodyear Polyglas rubber and also dog dish hubcaps. In addition, this vehicle is no longer in possession of the Illinois Central College, it is now owned by Chrysler.

The carmaker was offered this Super Bee back in 2001, and it immediately accepted the offer, due to the fact that it didn`t have such vehicle in its collection. As a sign of appreciation, Chrysler gave a 1999 Ram 2500 to the college, to have the same role as the Super Bee had!

After receiving the automobile back, Chrysler started with its restoration which took almost two years. Great deal of the original parts have been restored and also the restoration team has been searching for the missing parts in order to make the car meet the factory standards. In other words, the car now looks the same as 45 years ago. Isn`t that amazing?

Finally, let`s make a brief overview of the specifications of this 1970 Dodge Super Bee. This automobile is powered by a 383ci Magnum V8 engine delivering 335 horsepower and the power is sent to the wheels via 4-speed manual transmission. Also, it has 14×5.5 steel wheels with hubcaps wrapped in F70-17 Polyglas tires by Goodyear.
