2022 Ford Ranger Global Model Revealed With V6 Diesel And Wider Body

The 2022 Ford Ranger

The new-generation 2022 Ford Ranger ute has been revealed with a bolder design, more interior technology, full-time four-wheel drive in some variants, a V6 diesel option, and plug-in hybrid-ready architecture. Ford developed, designed, and engineered the Ford Ranger and Ford Everest in Australia.

Three engines will be offered at launch: single- and bi-turbo four-cylinder options, and a 3.0-litre V6. They`re all diesels. Five trim levels will be available at launch, ranging from XL to Wildtrak. Then, a Ranger Raptor will follow. Top-spec cars will have a 12-inch vertical touchscreen inside, cheaper cars get a 10-inch unit.

Prices start at $35,930 for the base XL model and top out at $85,490 for the range-topping Wildtrak 3.0L V6 Bi-Turbo automatic. Fuel efficiency is between 7.3L/100km and 11.5L/100km, depending on the model. All Rangers come with a five-year/unlimited kilometer warranty as standard. ANCAP has given the Ford Ranger a 5-star safety rating.

Strengths and Weaknesses

The 2022 Ford Ranger is a particularly appealing truck because of its combination of strengths. It has a signature ride comfort that comes from features like the independent front suspension and driver-assist technology. The new V6 diesel engine is a great addition, as it offers more power and refinement than the previous model. Plus, the permanent 4WD system is a great feature for those who need it. The enhanced interior ergonomics and displays are also welcome additions.

However, there are some weaknesses to consider as well. The lack of a manual gearbox option will be a turnoff for some buyers. And the extra cabin storage is limited to the Wildtrak model, which is the most expensive version. Finally, putting 4×4 settings on a touchscreen may not be wise, as it could lead to accidental changes.
